My good friend and I get a daily coffee at the DBC in our building. Today was a particularly momentous coffee acquisition. You see while were waiting for our coffee to be completed I made the comment, “I sold off my CD collection back when selling three CDs bought you a tank of gas and two packs of smokes.”
To which our lovely and wonderful barista (no sarcasm intended) innocently asked, “Do you guys mind if I ask how old you are?” To which responded our ages.
She then noted, “You had CDs?”

Okay so, the BBP is almost a week past. However, I’ve decided to post about it anyway.
For as long as I have been old enough to understand what 1) a block party is, and 2) what a music festival is, I have always had a soft spot for the BBP. Sadly I have only ever been twice, and boy have things changed in the 13 years between visits.

Recently I had a friend ask me an interesting question. “With how much you read why don’t you just use the library?” A question that seems completely sensible. My answer goes to the heart of why I read.

Ladies and gentlemen it’s official, I have completed my first upgrade of Wordpress since its initial install so many moons ago.
Aside from a couple of hiccups (one being my own dang fault), it went very smoothly.
You should notice a new piece of functionality here. You will now be able to reply to someone’s comment and it will tree the conversation… woot.
So there’s that excitement…
Hope you’re all surviving the heat.

I determined a number of weeks back that I had not been reading enough. My list of books to read had gotten longer and I hadn’t even made a dent in it. So, I started from the top.
I took a moment to think back over the last five weeks and try to determine how much reading I had actually done. I was a bit surprised with the answer. Over the last 5 weeks I have read 5 books totaling approximately 3,500 pages and I’m working on a 6th which will increase the page total another 500 or so pages. I’m not saying that I’m reading all super fast or anything, I just hadn’t imagined I would have read so much after quite the reading hiatus.

I have, in recent internet searches, been discouraged if not out right embarrassed by some of my Geek brethren as of late. No longer is being Geek an excuse to be socially stupid, and it makes categorical inaccuracies down right inexcusable. As a matter of point, we should be above such mistakes! We are geeks, after all.
Listen up, there is a difference between Hot Geek Girls and a Teacher Fetish.
